World Tourism Day 2022

For more than four decades, World Tourism Day has been celebrated to raise awareness of the social, cultural and economic value it brings to societies as a whole.

“Rethinking tourism” is the motto for World Tourism Day in 2022. This year, it aims to focus on the future to reorganize the foundations of this sector that is so important for the global economy. How we do tourism and what we want tourism to be like in the future are the great unknowns that the UNWTO raises, putting people and the planet at the forefront to focus on the sustainability, inclusion and resilience of the sector.

On the occasion of the celebration of World Tourism Day, the City Council is holding an Institutional Event in the Plenary Hall of the City Hall, in which the "Benidorm City Tourism Awards" are presented. This year, the winners were:

International Category: CORPORACIÓN DE RADIO TELEVISIÓN ESPAÑOLA S.A.
National Category: OLVIDO GARA JOVA AND MAXIMO HUERTA HERNÁNDEZ
Local/Regional Category: HOTEL DON PANCHO, on its 50th anniversary
Special Mention: TONI MAYOR SUÁREZ
In addition, at this same event, the SICTED awards are presented to the companies in Benidorm that, throughout this year, joined this quality program for the first time or renewed the program's requirements. It is a recognition of the effort and commitment to quality and continuous improvement and distinguishes the establishment from the competition. A total of 28 companies, firms, organizations and tourist elements received their distinction this year.
