Benidorm Accessible Hotels Guide
Benidorm and Predif present the ‘Digital Guide to Accessible Hotels’ at Fitur, featuring the resources of 60 establishments
Benidorm now has a specific guide to the accessibility services offered by its hotels; a dynamic document developed by the Representative Platform for People with Physical Disabilities (Predif) through collaboration between this organisation, Benidorm City Council, and the city's accommodation sector.
The ‘Digital Guide to Accessible Hotels’ compiles the resources and features of 60 Benidorm establishments, informing users about the physical, visual, auditory, cognitive, and other accessibility features offered by each hotel in its facilities and services, as explained by the director of Predif's Accessible Tourism department.
Specifically, it provides information on the availability of parking spaces and restrooms reserved for people with reduced mobility, adapted rooms, and support resources for the swimming pool. Also, whether the establishment has staff with sign language skills or training in assisting people with accessibility needs; as well as the availability of a hearing loop or menus for people with food intolerances.
The sample of establishments comprises three five-star hotels, 35 four-star hotels, 21 three-star hotels, and one two-star hotel.
The collaboration between Benidorm and Predif began in 2017. This relationship resulted in the Tourism Accessibility Plan, a document that serves as a roadmap for implementing improvement actions, and now this ‘Digital Guide to Accessible Hotels’ has been launched. In parallel, Predif staff have offered accessibility training sessions to the tourism sector.
This guide was first published in December 2022, but its content is continuously updated through the downloadable report for each resource on Tur4all.
