SICTED Quality Programme
SICTED (Sustainability, Intelligence and Tourism Quality in the Destination Ecosystem), promoted by the Spanish Secretary of State for Tourism, aims to foster the continuous improvement of tourist destinations through coordinated efforts between public authorities and the tourism services that comprise the destination ecosystem.
Its methodology provides a framework for implementing good practices to strengthen social, economic and environmental sustainability, as well as quality, as strategic pillars for competitive and responsible tourism development.
In Benidorm, the implementation of SICTED involves both the City Council’s Tourism Department and tourism businesses and professionals, promoting a culture of continuous improvement based on service excellence and the incorporation of sustainability criteria. The programme enables the destination’s quality to be managed comprehensively and on an ongoing basis, bringing together the efforts of the public and private sectors to offer visitors the best possible experience.
Benidorm City Council’s Tourism Department joined the SICTED project in mid-2013 and, in 2026, is renewing its commitment to this initiative, adapting to the new methodology and its focus on sustainability, tourism intelligence and quality.
The SICTED quality mark certifies compliance with the requirements established under its methodology and recognises the commitment and efforts of participating organisations towards quality, continuous improvement and sustainability. It also serves as a distinguishing feature that adds value and strengthens the competitiveness of the destination’s tourism businesses and services.
