IMPROVEMENT OF FIRE PROTECTION CONDITIONS IN MORALET PARK IN BENIDORM
Within the framework of the EDUSI Benidorm, Benidorm City Council carried out a first phase of actions to improve the environment and public use of El Moralet area of the aforementioned municipality, with a total area of close to 100 hectares, carrying out works whose scope, concerning the vegetation and the reduction of the risk of fire spread, basically consisted of clearing, cleaning and removing the existing herbaceous, shrubby and tree vegetation 4 meters on each side from the axis on paths and 5 m on cycle paths. Likewise, a firebreak area was created around the perimeter of the three recreational areas that were built within the park in which, in a first band 7 m wide, a complete clearing of the scrub and felling of the trees was carried out. tree stands up to approximately 1.75 m high, and, in a second auxiliary band of 18 m, the tree stands were felled until an Fcc of 20% was achieved. Finally, two fire hydrants were also installed, taking water from the pipes that the Marina Baja Water Consortium has throughout the park.
Additionally, the installation of autonomous fire surveillance cameras connected by wireless transmission with Benidorm fire control centre is planned, as well as the installation of protection barriers using fences and the replacement of the park roads affected by the vehicle traffic necessary for the execution of the works included in this project.
