The JGL will approve on Monday the agreement with the property number 37 of Tomás Ortuño street, which currently occupies 60 m2, and it will be incorporated into the public highway
Benidorm reaches an expropriation agreement that will allow expanding a section of La Garita street with Tomás Ortuño
Benidorm City Council has closed an expropriation agreement that will allow the completion of the urbanization of La Garita street corner with Tomás Ortuño. The mayor, Toni Pérez, explained that “based on this agreement reached with the company that owns the house number 37 in Tomás Ortuño street, the City Council will obtain 60 square meters of land currently occupied by such house in La Garita street, which will be incorporated into the public thoroughfare in compliance with the General Plan ”.
The terms of the operation, in which it has been working since last February and which will entail a disbursement of 59,025.92 euros, have been reflected in an "expropriation agreement by mutual agreement", which the Local Government Board will approve this next Monday - prior to passing through the Urban Planning Information Commission - and which will be exposed to the public for a period of 20 days.
The mayor has detailed that “once the expropriation agreement has been signed and paid, the property will be in charge of the demolition of the current property, after which the City Council will take possession of those 60 square meters of land in La Garita Street, Later, the City Council will carry out the urbanization work, with which the width of this section of the road will be widened, leaving it with the same aesthetics and dimensions as the rest of the street ”.
Toni Pérez has stressed that “with this urban action, together with the work that is now being carried out in the next section of the same La Garita street, we complete the renovation of El Calvari neighborhood and continue to gain space for pedestrian mobility 100% accessible ”.
For her part, the Councilor for Urbanism, Lourdes Caselles, explained that “the 1990 General Plan provides for the same alignment and layout for the entire La Garita street; an alignment that was not fulfilled since the existing building - prior to the urban document - occupied part of the surface that should be a public road. Now, once those 60 square meters are expropriated, the street will be able to have the expected width and alignment; while a new property will be able to be built in the resulting plot according to the specifications of the General Plan ”.
