Benidorm opens the registration deadline for the XXIII Christmas Showcase Contest
Businesses, service companies, restaurants and hotels can participate
The campaign aims to turn the city into a place of reference to attract visitors at Christmas in the whole region
Benidorm City Coucnil, through the department of Commerce, has opened the deadline to register for the XXIII edition of the Christmas Showcase Competition, an initiative organized in the framework of the Christmas campaign which has among its objectives the promotion of local commerce. According to the councilor of Commerce, Ana Pellicer, after an effort made by the City Council to illuminate more areas during these dates "among all we can create a Christmas atmosphere like in the big cities: Madrid, Paris, London or New York that invites to shop in our town "and make Benidorm a" place of reference to attract buyers from all over the region. " The theme to be developed will be totally free and allegorical to the environment typical of Christmas. Three categories are established: shops and service companies, catering and hotels. The first prize will be 500 euros. The department of Commerce, through the social profiles in the social networks Facebook and Instagram, will create a label so users can share impressions and vote the windows they like. The Showcase Competition has the support of the business associations of Benidorm: Aico, Hosbec, Abreca-Cobreca (bars, cafes and restaurants), and Ociobal (nightlife). There are already 35 local businesses registered and, as Pellicer indicated, it is expected "to be able to reach more than 100 subscribers". The registration deadline for the competition is 9 December. The establishments must have the decoration finished on 11 December and keep it until January 6, 2017. The jury of this edition will be composed of a representative of the collaborating business associations, the Association of Housewives, Anémona (Self-Help Group for Women with Breast Cancer) and, from Professional Training of Commerce, a student and a professor. The awards ceremony will take place on 21 December at 21.00 hours in the Assembly Hall of the City Hall where the performance of the Choir of the Association of Housewives is already confirmed.
