Benidorm closes the bio-healthy areas, playgrounds and calisthenics, Séquia Mare skateboarding, urban sports tracks and beaches

Benidorm City Council has today decreed the closure of the outdoor fitness areas for the elder population, playgrounds and calisthenics located in different parts of the city, according to the mayor, Toni Pérez, after the agreement unanimously adopted by the Board of Spokespersons. Some measures that also include the 'skate' of Parque de la Séquia Mare and the four sports tracks located in Parque de l'Aigüera, Benissa street, next to 'Antonio López football fields, and La Huerta, along with the all sports facilities located on the sandy beaches of Benidorm.

Toni Pérez explained that “with the closure of these spaces we follow the line set by the Generalitat Valenciana in its decree of last January 20, in which it established the closure of sports areas and gyms throughout the autonomous territory within a battery of measures against Covid-19, as well as the one published today that limits social encounters in public spaces ”. According to the mayor, "on the occasion of the entry into force of these measures, we proceeded to immediately close the municipal sports facilities, and now we do the same with these spaces and facilities located outdoors in different parts of the city."

Specifically, this morning the calisthenics areas located in the Leisure and Recreation Park of l'Aigüera and Poniente beach were closed, as well as the 15 bio-healthy areas for the elder population that are located in the parks of l ' Aigüera, Elche, Foietes, Tamarindos, La Cala and Rincón de Loix, on Italia, Venezuela and Benissa streets, Villajoyosa avenue, Juan Antonio Baldoví, nex to 'Antonio López' football fields, near IES Mediterránea and in front of Beniardá parking lot.

Likewise, the mayor has clarified that “the parks and the rest of the spaces and green areas of the city are kept open, always appealing to the responsibility of the citizens in compliance with the latest measures issued by the Generalitat Valenciana this Monday regarding to social gatherings, and always maintaining safety distances and hygienic measures ”.
