20 local policemen participate in a course on the preventive use of the extendable baton

26 October 2021
20 policías locales participan en un curso sobre la utilización preventiva del bastón extensible

Organized by the Professional Union of Local Police and Firefighters (SPPLB) in collaboration with the Departments of Citizenship Security and Sports, tomorrow Wednesday, at Palau d'Esports l'Illa in Benidorm, and throughout the day, the course has been scheduled 'Use of the extendable baton', aimed at Local Police officers.
In total, 20 places have been called, mostly covered by Benidorm police officers, with the participation of agents from other towns in the Marina Baixa.
The police extendable baton is a defense that consists of three sections made of alloyed steel. It has a mechanism on the handle that allows you to unlock these three parts. Unlike the semi-rigid fender (the classic baton), it is smaller (26 cm when folded and 51 cm in maximum extension), it is more versatile, easy to transport, light and discreet.
Benidorm Local Police have recently incorporated the extendable baton into their weapons, although it is mandatory for officers to take training in advance on its use. For this reason, from the provincial directorate of the SPPLB, the training action is organized, with the purpose that "the Local Police staff, such as the one in Benidorm, have adequate training in the use of this tool incorporated into the provision of weapons", he pointed out. the provincial vice president of the union and local president, Francisco Ángel González.
The trade unionist has specified that "during the day theoretical and practical aspects will be discussed", abounding in "body positions, tactical steps, control, openings and insertions". Francisco Ángel González also thanked "the commitment" of the local agents who "have shown interest in participating in this course, although it takes place outside of their working hours."
