Visit Benidorm Foundation asks the City Council for the transfer of partial use of municipal elements to manage the WIFI

The Board of Visit Benidorm Foundation has unanimously endorsed this decision, which seeks to obtain income to invest them in promotion

Visit Benidorm Foundation has asked the City Council "the partial transfer of uses of elements of the public space to manage the WIFI and other technological deployments" that can occur in the city. The Foundation's Board has endorsed this request at a meeting of the organ held at noon in the municipal center of El Torrejó, which was presided over by the mayor, Toni Pérez.

With the exploitation of these technologies, the Foundation aims to "obtain raw data and revenues that are reversible in the tourist promotion" of Benidorm, as recorded in the document signed by the manager of Visit Benidorm, Leire Bilbao. The same document notes that this method of obtaining income at the technological level is "very interesting", and that is in line with the actions that are being carried out linked to the Smart Tourist Destination.

As progress has been made during the meeting of the Board of Trustees, the implementation of new technologies to expand and improve the services provided to citizens will be done "without any cost to the City Council or the Foundation."

In view of this request, the City Council must now see how it articulates that partial assignment.

In addition to this request, the Board of the Foundation has approved the Activity Report of last year and the accounts for the 2016 financial year. Specifically, revenues for 2016 were 734,939 euros, while expenses amounted to 771,958.99 euros. The bulk of the expenses, approximately 73%, went to promotion.

At the same meeting of the Board, the Big Data report was also taken into account, the participants were informed of the 150 actions carried out in the first half of the year, and a request was made for employers who are not part of the Foundation to be involved in the promotion work of the city.
