The project, co-financed with European funds, acts in this phase on 1,779 light points to implement the 'led' technology and remote management and save up to 68.43%

The third phase of the Energy Efficiency Program is advancing at a good pace in the Poniente area

Avanza la tercera fase del Programa de Eficiencia Energética.

The third phase of the Energy Efficiency Program is advancing as planned, as the acting mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, and the mayor of Public Space, also acting, José Ramón González de Zárate, have been able to verify, who last night visited the Works to install new lights and replace the old ones in the La Cala area.

This third and final phase of the Energy Efficiency program corresponds to the West zone and acts on 1,779 light points and 23 command centers, which means renewing 61.09% of the 2,192 existing points in the area. When the phase is completed, there will have been a reduction in installed power from 439.20 kW to 132.36 kW, that is, a saving of 68.43%.

Regarding energy consumption, before starting the third phase this was 1,513,045.07 kWh and will rise to 381,953.49, with which the annual energy savings will be 74.76%. The savings in CO2 emissions will also be significant and will amount to 589.30 tons per year.

The third phase covers 12.40% of the total light points in Benidorm. LED technology luminaires with flow regulation equipment will be installed to offer lighting levels based on the specific needs of the area where they are located. They will have a point-to-point remote management system to control and manage the energy consumption of the installation.

The works, which were awarded to the company Sociedad Ibérica de Construcciones Eléctricas (SICE), have a budget of 1,333,636.13 euros, 50% financed with European funds through the Institute for Energy Diversification and Saving (IDAE). ). Once the three phases are completed, the program will reach all the neighborhoods of the city.

The acting mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, pointed out yesterday during the visit that "the savings will reach more than 68%" and highlighted that the luminaires "will also have the remote management system to change the intensity and power of the lights when necessary. necessary".

Pérez specified that the luminaires that are being removed due to this action "are being relocated in other places where they are necessary" and reiterated his "total willingness" so that the residents can express "all their demands in terms of lighting because they are the best They know the place."

Regarding the Energy Efficiency Program, the mayor stressed that it is "very ambitious and will make Benidorm a more sustainable city and destination, while we follow the 2030 Agenda, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) and working side by side with the municipal technicians so that this important political vocation translates into realities for the people of Benidorm”. In this sense, he insisted that since 2015 "we have implemented savings and renewal policies that have given us magnificent results, as shown by the continuous reduction in energy and electricity costs in recent years despite the brutal increase in cost."

With the execution of this program, he continued, "We reach all the neighborhoods of the city and we do it with innovation, technology, and cutting-edge lighting, with less light pollution and lower cost."
