The comprehensive renovation works of the road will be resumed in September to execute what remains up to Berlin street

Benidorm speeds up the works on Montecarlo avenue to finish them in two weeks in the section between París and Roma streets

16 June 2023
Avenida Montecarlo

The comprehensive renovation works on Avenida Montecarlo will be completed within about two weeks in the section between París Street and Roma Street so that the road will be open to traffic and all construction elements will be removed. Benidorm City Council has expedited the work on this section so that with the arrival of the high season, residents and tourists do not encounter obstacles on public roads and can use it again.

Once this section is reopened, all services will be renewed and fully operational. Thus, the old fiber cement pipes will have been completely renovated, the rainwater network -which did not exist-, the telecommunications, the sidewalks, the road, the lighting, and the trees on the street, in addition to providing the section with "total accessibility". ”, according to the Councilor for Urban Scene, José Ramón González de Zárate.

Work will resume in September to continue executing the rest of the work until reaching Berlin Street. Its development will continue to be in phases, as planned at the beginning, "to generate as little inconvenience as possible", although the intention of the City Council "is to speed up the deadlines to finish as soon as possible once some problems that arise not attributable to the City Council" said González de Zárate.

The mayor pointed out that "the comprehensive renovation of Montecarlo Avenue is the work that the residents of Rincón de Loix have asked us for the most and the one that the government team was most eager to do." He recalled that this is a far-reaching intervention since "it involves the renovation of drinking water, sewerage, rainwater, and reclaimed water pipes, which implies putting pipes throughout the entire length of the work". That is why the action will cover not only the road but also the sidewalks, which will be new and adapted to the accessibility regulations", so that at the end of the work "we will have finished with the accessibility problems thanks to the creation of ramps and zebra crossings”.

The councilor has specified that within the project it is contemplated that “the street has the character of a cycle path and that it maintains the current number of parking spaces. In addition, all the lampposts are going to be renewed and new trees are going to be implanted”.

De Zárate has once again asked for "patience, understanding and tranquility" in the face of these "complex" jobs. The renovation project for Montecarlo Avenue between  París Street and Berlín Street is valued at 1,354,245.69 euros.
