The Department of Urban Scene of Benidorm City Council is carrying out maintenance and conservation work on urban furniture, especially in the downtown area and the old town. The actions are mainly focused on benches, litter bins, columns, lampposts, and bollards.
As explained by the councilor Francis Muñoz, action is being taken in streets such as Alameda, Gambo, Santa Faz, Alicante and cross streets, Paseo de Colón, San Pedro, Almendros, Tomás Ortuño, Jaime I, Ruzafa and adjacent among others.
Likewise, the Technical Services brigade is carrying out masonry work to fix the Poniente balustrade and the access stairs to Plaza del Castell.
Among other works, the bollards are being replaced in Almendros Street, in Paseo de la Carretera with Tomás Ortuño, in Sant Jaume, Gambo, and Martínez Alejos streets. Benches have been repaired in Elche Park, specifically slats that were broken or deteriorated have been replaced.
Muñoz indicated that the works "are carried out to prolong the useful life of the street furniture and at the same time improve the aesthetics and its image." The councilor appealed to citizens “to keep in mind that the furniture belongs to everyone and must be cared for as if it belonged to each one. We want to have the best possible urban environment as our neighbors and tourists deserve”.
