Maintenance and improvement works are being carried out on benches, fountains, and park areas in Foietes, l’Aigüera, and Elche parks to enhance their preservation and visual appearance

Benidorm restores the street furniture and decoration in Poniente, Levante and its parks

Benidorm restaura el mobiliario urbano y ornamentación de Poniente, Levante y sus parques

The intervention aims to keep the public spaces most frequently used by residents and visitors in optimal condition, improve their appearance, and extend the lifespan of the street furniture. The works will be completed before Easter.

Benidorm City Council, through its Department of Urban Scene, is carrying out improvement, maintenance, and restoration work on street furniture and ornamental elements in various parts of the city before Easter. This work will take place in the Poniente and Levante districts, and especially in Foietes, l’Aigüera, and Elche parks.

The councillor for the department, Francis Muñoz, explained that the actions aim to “strengthen the upkeep of public spaces and ensure their well-maintained and consistent appearance, befitting the importance of Benidorm and for the benefit of its residents and visitors.”

The planned work includes the supply and application of brown, eco-friendly synthetic paint with a protective walnut-colored wood treatment to ornamental elements and street furniture. It also includes “graffiti removal and the restoration of ornamental pieces damaged by use and time.” In total, Muñoz explained, 186 benches located in  Foietes, l’Aigüera, and Elche parks will be treated, applying, in each case, “the most suitable materials for their composition and state of conservation.”

The councillor detailed that 131 concrete benches located on public roads in the Poniente and Levante districts will receive two coats of a protective cream-colored coating, and in l’Aigüera Park, 110 ornamental elements will be restored, in this case with the aim of “preserving their iconic image and safeguarding the overall aesthetic.”

In Elche Park, the walls of the planters will be painted to “maintain the chromatic uniformity of the space,” and in Óscar Esplá amphitheatre in l’Aigüera Park, the seating will be repainted with a coating of the same colour as the current one.

Muñoz emphasised that the intervention is part of an ongoing maintenance plan for municipal public spaces. “We will continue to carry out regular improvements,” he explained, “in all neighbourhoods and urban areas of Benidorm to conserve, protect, and enhance our parks and other prominent locations that are visited and enjoyed by thousands of people throughout the year.”
