Benidorm eco-park has recovered a total of 5,053,170 kilograms of waste throughout the first half of 2023, a total volume that represents an increase of 12% over that managed from this green point during the same period last year.

This is clear from the balance of activity of this municipal service between January to June of this year, according to which rubble, metals, devices with chlorofluorocarbons or electrical and electronic devices are among the items that were most recycled in this first semester.

Specifically, the eco-park received a total of 1,684,800 kilos of rubble at this stage, 12.5% more than in the first six months of the previous year. March was the month with the greatest activity in this type of selective collection, reaching 328,640 kilos of rubble, of which the monthly average never fell below 250,000.

Likewise, 35,460 kilos of metals, 750 liters of vegetable oil, 505 toner cartridges, 16,335 electrical and electronic devices, 445 fluorescent tubes, 125 empty aerosol cans, 65 X-rays, 41,880 kilograms of flat glass, 585 button batteries, 34,210 devices were received. with chlorofluorocarbons (refrigerators, air conditioners, freezers, or similar), 415 absorbents and cleaning cloths, and 5,915 liters of paints, dyes, or varnishes.

The Councilor for Environment, Mónica Gómez, recalled that the use of the eco-park service, both landline and mobile, is free for citizens and encouraged them to use it to contribute to caring for the environment.

Likewise, the councilor recalled that this facility for the reception and management of waste is located in the Foia del Ca section, on the Finestrat road, next to the urban solid waste transfer plant and the light packaging plant.

About the mobile eco-park, it is a special vehicle prepared for the deposit of certain items for separate collection, including used cooking oil and automotive oil, button and electric batteries, x-rays, appliances small electronics (mobile phones, radios,...), or small toxic containers, such as lacquers or sprays, moving every day of the week to a different neighborhood in the city.

What items can I recycle in the eco-park

The councilor for the Environment recalled that any citizen can bring to recycle any element that they want to get rid of and that is on the list of admissible items, which ranges from trivial waste (such as cardboard, glass, plastics, wood or metals), even bulky (such as furniture, mattresses, electrical appliances or pruning remains).

Likewise, among the admitted objects there is also a space for the collection of hazardous waste, such as crankcase oil, car batteries, batteries, expired medicines, aerosols, x-rays, fluorescent tubes, or metal or plastic containers that have contained up to 30 kilograms of dangerous products.

As regards the items not allowed in this eco-park are domestic waste, tires, containers that would have contained more than 30 kg. of hazardous materials, or infectious or radioactive waste.
