The Department considers that with this increase in staff, from tomorrow until April 19, "we can attend to the large volume of tourists who arrive in Benidorm"
Benidorm reinforces street cleaning at Easter with more than 40 workers in three shifts
The street Cleaning department of Benidorm City Council and in collaboration with the concessionaire company FCC will reinforce the cleaning and waste collection service during the Easter period. This reinforcement will translate into an increase of more than 40 workers in the workforce in three work shifts from tomorrow, Thursday, April 14 to Tuesday, April 19, both inclusive.
On the night shift, an urban solid waste collector will be increased with a staff of three operators, a driver and two labourers. There will also be two more cleaning brigades with four operators, a tanker with a driver and a cleaning worker who will act in various parts of the city.
Likewise, the brigade of two manual washing operators will reinforce the work in the old town and in central streets where there is a greater concentration of tourists and processions. In this same night shift, four street cleaning workers will reinforce the night tours "so that the beaches and the entire urban centre appear clean before nine in the morning," said Councilor José Ramón González de Zárate.
As for the day shift, this will be reinforced with two pressurized water cleaners "to reach all the squares and pedestrian streets of the city". Gerona, Lepanto, Ibiza and Mallorca streets will be reinforced in cleaning, where there are more hotels "to have the streets clean as soon as possible". In addition, there will be reinforcements in Paseo de Poniente, the area of La Cala, Vicente Pérez Devesa avenue, Adolfo Suárez "and all the streets where there are new buildings".
Finally, the afternoon shift will also be reinforced with a collection collector for the points where there are removable containers and selective collection points. There will also be a reinforcement in the door-to-door cardboard collection, another one for the emptying of litter bins throughout the city and reinforcement in the sweeping review in the centre and beaches. On the other hand, a sweeper with operators will be in operation "for all the processions that are held in the city."
González de Zárate explained that "with this service, we can attend to the large volume of tourists who arrive in Benidorm these days, as well as the processions, without neglecting the rest of the neighbourhoods".
In addition, he specified, "if a neighbour wants to collaborate and is aware of any incident, they can call the Local Police and they will immediately transfer the incident to Street Cleaning, the FCC guard shifts or any other department of the City Council".
