Eight men's and women's teams meet in the 36th edition of 'Villa de Benidorm' Youth Football Tournament

The city will be represented by a team in the male Children's category, and by Atlético Benidorm CD in the female Children-Cadet category.

After two years of forced hiatus due to the pandemic, 'Villa de Benidorm' Youth Football Tournament returns, one of the longest-running sporting events in the city and which celebrates 36 editions. The 36th edition will take place this Friday, April 15, and on Saturday the 16th at the facilities of Ciudad Deportiva 'Guillermo Amor', and it will bring together eight male and female teams from the children's and cadet categories from five clubs, to which the Local team of Benidorm is added.

As in previous years, the male Children's category will participate in the tournament with a selection made up of players from Benidorm. The city will also be present in the female Children-Cadet category, in this case with the players from Atlético Benidorm.

The boys of the National Team will play against Córdoba CF, Atlético de Madrid and Valencia CF in the men's category; and the girls from Atlético Benidorm CD will do the same with Elche CF, Córdoba CF and Valencia CF.

This afternoon, the mayor, Toni Pérez, and the Councilor for Sports, Mariló Cebreros, handed out the corresponding kits to the members of the two city teams that will play in the tournament. This traditional kit delivery ceremony, held in the Town Hall Assembly Hall, was also attended by the provincial deputy for Architecture, José Ramón González de Zárate; members of the Municipal Corporation; representatives of the city's grassroots football clubs and family members.

The mayor wished athletes from both teams to enjoy "the tournament experience" and "represent the city", and encouraged them to experience this competition through the values ​​inherent in the sport, such as tolerance and respect for the contrary.

As explained by Cebreros, "during the first day, Friday, the semifinals will be played, while on Saturday the fight for third and fourth place and the finals of the two categories will take place: Male Child and Female Child-Cadet". Guillermo Amor stadium and the artificial turf field of the Ciudad Deportiva will host the different matches, with free access until full capacity is reached.

Benidorm 2022 Local Team is made up of: Alejandro Orts, Victor Bernabé, Carlos Gascón, Rayan Bourmlik, Sergio Rodríguez, Ronny Medina, Lucas Andrés Cucerzan, Ángel Castro, Daniel Velásquez, Thiago Borquez, Ayman Larbi, Miguel Requena, Justyn Mesa, Bachad Loudeiy, Francisco Pérez, Samuel Garcia, David Dinu, Victor Silva and Máximo Jara. The team's coach is Luis Cardona Contell, while Regino Igual Navas is the assistant coach.

In the case of Atlético Benidorm, the squad is made up of Carla Pascual, Lucía López, Isabel Pastor, Ainhoa ​​Moreno, Ceres Lotus, Ane Armas, Nuria Águila, Paula Vidal, Nahia Antoñana, Saray Albaladejo, Aitana Bellvert, Leire Llambrich, Valeria Sierra , Naiara Castro, Judith Quintanilla, Jimena Bautista, Irene García and Seylan Reyhan. The trainer is Mª Carmen Gutiérrez Coca assisted by Silvia Armero Ochoa.
