Toni Pérez reiterates the city's commitment "for quality tourism"
7 Benidorm companies obtain the SICTED quality honour for the first time and 6 renew it
In an act held in the municipal building El Torrejó, thirteen companies have received for the first time or renewed, from the hands of the mayor, Toni Pérez, the quality distinction of the Integral System of Tourist Quality in Destinations (SICTED) granted by the Secretary of State of Tourism through the Department of Tourism of the Benidorm City Council.
In his speech after the awards were handed out, Toni Pérez stressed that these are not "a random recognition", but the reward "for the work" of the companies and their "clear commitment to the constant improvement of everything we do and what we offer". The mayor has stressed that tourism has been "the most damaged industry" during the pandemic, but that the lockdown and restrictions on mobility "have not been an obstacle" for these entities to stop working and offering their services.
The mayor has reiterated his commitment "for quality tourism" and has emphasized that whoever advocates for him "has to come to Benidorm to see it." Pérez has valued "the collective effort" of the city's companies in the effort to make "Benidorm what it is".
SICTED is a project that emerged 22 years ago to improve the quality of tourist destinations promoted by the Secretary of State for Tourism with the collaboration of the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces. One of its objectives is to standardize the level of quality of the services received by tourists in a given destination.
The system offers participating tourism services training, technical assistance and working groups that develop proposals to improve the destination and achieve a high-quality standard. Thus, the companies and entities that comprise it enjoy the Tourist Quality Commitment badge, valid for two years, and undergo a constant evaluation of their services in order to renew it.
In Spain, 239 tourist destinations participate in the SICTED, with 9,750 adhered companies and 6,076 that have the Tourism Quality Commitment distinctive. Benidorm has 69 distinguished companies and 35 members.
At today's event, 2-Sleep Apartments-Estudios Benidorm, Hotel Belroy, Hotel Benidorm Plaza, Hotel Flash, Hotel Brasil, Hotel Los Álamos and Hotel Voramar have received the SICTED distinction for the first time. Likewise, it has been renovated by Autocares Grupo Benidorm Beniconnet Travel Agency, Hotel Don Pancho, Hotel Les Dunes Comodoro, Hotel RH Princesa and Hotel Rosamar.
