The body completes its four-year term and begins its renewal process with the election of its new vice-presidents in January
The Neighborhood Council transfers the most voted proposals for study and possible inclusion in the 2023 Participatory Budget
The Neighborhood Council has transferred to Benidorm City Council the proposals most voted for by citizens within the process of preparation for the 2023 Participatory Budget so that they are now "assessed and quantified by the technicians of the different municipal departments". This was stated by the mayor, Toni Pérez, during the ordinary session of the Neighborhood Council held today, in which he was accompanied by the Councilor for Citizen Participation, Ana Pellicer, and by Manuel Sánchez Notario, second vice president of the neighborhood body.
During the session, the score obtained by the 130 proposals submitted by citizens was reported, drawing up a list with the ten most voted actions.
Toni Pérez explained that these proposals "will be studied by municipal technicians." This study will establish which proposals are viable and technically and economically acceptable and from there establish which ones will finally be included in the Participatory Budget for next year. A Participatory Budget to which at least 5% of the amount planned for investments in the City Council Budget for 2023 will be allocated.
The councillor for Citizen Participation recalled that "this year, for the first time, in addition to the face-to-face vote that was exercised in the assembly held on November 4, telematic voting was enabled, thus giving citizens more possibilities and facilities to participate in this process”. The telematic vote was operational from November 3 to 28 through the digital platform benidorm.governalia.es.
As a result of the face-to-face and telematic voting process, the proposal with the most support -303- has been the configuration of study and computer spaces, followed by the mobile enclosure and air conditioning of the Olympic pool of the Foietes sports complex -301 votes-. The rest of the most supported proposals, in order, have been: the replacement of the maritime weather buoy that was damaged in a storm in 2020, the creation of libraries in other areas of Benidorm, the arrangement of the changing rooms in Foietes pool, the implementation of a new swimming lane on Poniente beach, cleaning and disinfection of sewers, closing the side street of the CEIP El Murtal, remodeling of Plaza de Neptuno with the placement of non-slip pavement, and carrying out more scooter speed controls
Once the technical and economic evaluation of the proposals is available, the final document for the Participatory Budget will be drawn up, which will include the actions to be carried out next year at the request of the residents.
In addition to this point, during the session the process of renewal of the Neighborhood Council was also addressed, since tomorrow, December 16, the executive period will be four years old. To this end, and as reported during the meeting, on January 26, the directors who will occupy the First and Second Vice-Presidency of the body will be elected by vote for the next four years.
Toni Pérez thanked the outgoing vice-presidents, Teresa Garrido and Manuel Sánchez Notario, for their "vocation" and "a lot of work" during these four years, in which initiatives such as the 'A pie de calle' campaign, of which "Very good proposals" have come out and that every week they have taken the councilors of Participation and Urban Space to a neighborhood of the city to test their needs and gather their requests. Visits which the mayor himself joined on many occasions in which municipal technicians also participated with the aim of resolving all the doubts and concerns of residents regarding projects or actions in their neighborhoods.
On the other hand, at today's meeting, the new Europa-Loix neighborhood association was presented to the Neighborhood Council, which has joined this participatory body.
