Benidorm City Council has started the work after the neighborhood requests, which will end in about two weeks
A pedestrian band will improve the safety of pedestrians on Camí del Palasiet
The residents of La Huerta area of Benidorm will see the safety of pedestrians who pass through there improved with the creation of a pedestrian path in Camí del Palasiet, so that pedestrians do not have to walk on the road and so avoid the risk.
The action obeys a request from the residents of the area and for this reason, the campaign 'A pie de calle' has moved to that point to explain 'in situ' to the neighbors the details of an action that has already started and it will last for about two weeks.
The Councilor for Public Space, José Ramón González de Zárate, specified that "first the pedestrian path will be completed and later bollards will be installed to provide more protection for pedestrians." For her part, Ana Pellicer, Councilor for Citizenship Participation, indicated that the implementation of this action has its origin "in a neighborhood demand when they told us that they needed to improve security when walking around the area."
Pellicer emphasized “the positive of this campaign because it allows us to know what our neighbors need in each part of the city and thus see how we can solve the deficiencies that exist. In this case, we received this request and we have responded to it as soon as possible.
Regarding the direction of traffic, the double direction will be maintained at the junction of Comunidad Valenciana avenue and will remain in one direction closer to Assagador de la Torreta and Bernat de Sarrià. "However, the two directions will remain only for residents and it will be duly signposted" clarified the councilor for Public Space.
The councillor also advanced to the neighbors that in a second intervention in this area, all the existing streetlights and their wiring will be changed "because it is damaged."
What it will be done, he said, is to change "the existing line of lampposts, that is, wherever there is now a lamppost, it will be changed thanks to the IDAE program."
Later on, he added, "new luminaires and light points will be installed in areas where there are currently none." For this reason, he asked residents to notify them of places where there is a lack of lighting to correct it with new luminaires starting next year.
