The irrigation system has been renewed to make it more sustainable, rationalizing the use of water

Urban Scene opens Tamarindos Park after landscaping it

22 February 2019
Escena Urbana abre el Parque de Tamarindos tras acondicionarlo paisajísticamente

The Department of Urban Scene has already opened Tamarindos Park to the public after completing the landscaping work, which has allowed updating this space, improving its aesthetics and its maintenance. The mayor, Toni Pérez, has indicated that "until now we had acted in the environment, but we had to do it in the park itself, which also enjoys a privileged location in front of our Poniente beach". Perez has stated that "it was absolutely necessary to remodel and order the Tamarindos Park, because of its location in an area of great influx and passage of tourists, by the use that many residents make of it, and because its infrastructures were obsolete.

The remodeling of the park, its landscaping and the planting of new species has involved an investment of 44,522.56. An amount with which the irrigation system has been renewed to make it more sustainable, rationalizing the use of water. Specifically, "the irrigation pipes, which were obsolete, have been removed, and a drip and sprinkler irrigation system has been implemented with programmers that allows more efficient irrigation", since it can be varied according to the needs and the time of the year. In addition, natural grass has been planted, eucalyptus trees have been pruned, palm trees have been transplanted and a dozen 'revolutionary cycas', lavender, rosemary and lantanas have been installed.

The councilman stressed that with all these changes, Tamarindos Park "becomes a much more pleasant space for residents and visitors who travel through La Cala or who usually enjoy this green area", in which elements are also installed biosaludables.

For its part, the councilman of Urban Scene, José Ramón González de Zárate, recalled that "in this Park Tamarindos is installed the new public bathroom that serves this stretch of the Promenade and Poniente Beach, which went into operation a little over three weeks ago. "
