Organized by the AICO merchants' association, it features nearly 70 craft and food stalls and offers shows inspired by the Middle Ages
Elche Park is once again transformed into a medieval market for the celebration of the Charter of Settlement
Once again, coinciding with the commemoration of the granting of the Charter of Settlement by Admiral Bernat de Sarrià in 1325, the 701st anniversary of which is being celebrated, Elche Park in Benidorm has been transformed into a medieval market, with numerous stalls selling crafts, food, and traditional games.
The initiative, promoted by the Independent Association of Merchants (AICO), in collaboration with the Departments of Festivals and Commerce, was officially inaugurated this afternoon by Mayor Toni Pérez, accompanied by several members of the local council; the queens of the Patron Saint Festivals, Laura Ivars and Carmen Guillem, and their courts of honour; and the president of the Festival Committee, Ramón Cano.
The medieval market, located in Elche Park and on Alcalde José Such Ortega Street, comprises nearly 70 stalls dedicated to crafts, food, and hospitality, offering residents and visitors an experience inspired by the medieval era. The procession toured all the stalls, accompanied by a medieval dance performance that captivated the many attendees.
Among the planned activities are knight training demonstrations, a fusion of music and dance, knighting ceremonies, musical parades, and numerous entertainment options designed for all ages. The Medieval Market is open daily from 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM and will remain open throughout the weekend. It will close on Sunday evening, bidding farewell until next year.
