Benidorm City Council has carried out an intensive vertical cleaning of the cliffs in the Serra Gelada Natural Park to remove various types of waste and protect this natural area, one of the municipality's most emblematic, which receives thousands of daily visits from residents and tourists. The Councillor for Beaches and the Environment, Mónica Gómez, explained that this work was carried out in two separate operations, one in the area around the Cruz (Cross) and the other in Punta Llisera. The work was performed by R.A. Benidorm, the company contracted for the comprehensive management of the beaches, as part of the special cleaning operations stipulated in the contract terms, which require the concessionaire to carry out six special cleaning operations annually in the city's coves and cliffs.

These cleaning efforts “were carried out manually, by operators specialised in this type of vertical work, who moved along the slopes to collect all the accumulated waste,” the councilwoman stated. Mónica Gómez also emphasised that the Serra Gelada as a whole is one of Benidorm’s “major environmental and tourist attractions,” which is why the City Council “is undertaking all actions within its reach, within its jurisdiction and capabilities, to maintain it in the best possible condition, both aesthetically and environmentally.”

According to data provided by the concessionaire, the operators who carried out these tasks removed all kinds of waste, as can be seen in some of the images, totalling approximately 750 kilograms of debris.
