For every euro of municipal investment, sales worth almost three euros have been made
The 6th edition of #BenidormTeDaMás closes with turnover exceeding €3.5 million in local shop
The sixth edition of the #BenidormTeDaMás shopping voucher campaign has concluded, generating just over €3.5 million in revenue for the local economy, according to figures released today by Mayor Toni Pérez. This year, 495 businesses participated. This means that for every euro invested by the municipality in this campaign, sales totalled almost €3, which “demonstrates the success of this program, a true Benidorm initiative that injects money into households and dynamism and activity into local businesses.”
In total, between December 15 and 31, 45,093 people downloaded their vouchers, representing 63.91% of the 70,547 registered residents eligible for the campaign. Additionally, 135,280 vouchers have been downloaded, of which 121,591 have been redeemed, representing a municipal contribution of €1,215,910 and a total revenue of €2,431,820.
Toni Pérez, in light of these figures, emphasised that the campaign has actually generated €3,544,752 in revenue, meaning that "for every euro invested by the municipality, sales of almost three euros were generated, specifically €2.92," thus multiplying the campaign's impact.
The mayor recalled that the City Council guaranteed a minimum contribution of €1,800,000, "and the reality is that we almost reached €3.6 million with only 63.91% of registered residents having used these vouchers." For this reason, Pérez emphasised the campaign's "success" and stated that "as long as the local economy allows, we will continue to support our residents and businesses with initiatives like this."
"The results are, once again, very positive," the mayor affirmed, since "it has boosted commercial activity in our city, promoting local consumption and achieving a significant return that goes beyond the municipal investment." In this regard, the mayor stressed that "edition after edition, we have maintained the essence that makes us unique compared to other municipalities: universality, since in our city all residents over 18 years of age as of December 31st were able to participate in this initiative."
Similarly, Toni Pérez noted that two instalments of payments had already been made to businesses by December 29th. One payment is for €351,690 and the other for €419,130, totalling €770,820. “More than 63% of the program's total billing has already been paid. In administrative terms, this means the payment is almost immediate,” the mayor emphasised, adding that “the final payment will be approved before January 10th.”
Furthermore, the mayor indicated that for the next edition, “we will not change our approach because our model serves all registered residents over the age of 18 and, based on these principles, if the local economy allows, we will continue to promote this campaign.”
