‘BENIMOV 2021’ is here, the second edition of the Sustainable Urban Mobility Fair of Benidorm
The Mobility Department of Benidorm City Council, the Independent Merchants Association (AICO) and the consulting firm Chance & Choices organize, from September 10 to 12, the second edition of the Sustainable Urban Mobility Fair of Benidorm, ‘BENIMOV 2021’.
The event, which celebrated its first edition in 2019 with a resounding success and great projection at the national level, will allow attendees to know first-hand and test a wide range of electric and hybrid vehicles, one of the pillars to reduce CO2 emissions and guarantee sustainable mobility, especially necessary in urban centers. The moment is ideal for a showcase of this level, since in a few days the European Mobility Week will be celebrated.
In the presentation of the event, the Councilor for Moviliadd, José Ramón González de Zárate, insisted on the work of the City Council "in favor of the environment, sustainable transport and the reduction of polluting gas emissions." The councilor has valued the creation of the cycling network "with more than 100 kilometers of bike lanes", as well as "the encouragement of the use of alternative energies or education and information for young people."
The mayor also stressed that the electric vehicle "is the future and must be taught to people."
The organization has prepared for this edition an exhibition with various models (Ford, Hyundai, Toyota, Volkswagen, Seat, Cupra, Renault, Audi and Ford), where visitors will be able to learn about the operation and technical details of the different makes of cars, as well as perform tests of electric vehicles through a temporary urban circuit (CUT), with more than twenty cars to learn about this technology, "which has come to stay, promoting cleaner and more efficient mobility, and thus combat climate change" added González of Zárate.
The representative of the Chance & Choices consultancy, Antonio Pérez, has compared the current fair with the one held two years ago, noting that "then we had three sponsors and tomorrow we have eight brands and more than 20 vehicles." This, he added, "is an indicator of the speed of this change, which is going to go very fast."
In this sense, Pérez has underlined the “sense of anticipation” that Benidorm has had when it comes to betting on sustainable policies and highlighted two new concepts. “On the one hand, the bike path through the center of the road and painting them in red, which has a psychological effect that prevents drivers from touching it. And on the other hand, the anticipation of zero CO2 emissions ”.
For his part, Juan José Camarasa, secretary of AICO, has highlighted the commitment of the merchants association for this type of events "because potential customers who visit the city, stroll, consume and buy in our establishments are attracted."
BENIMOV will be located in the final section of Avenida de Europa, between Avenida del Mediterráneo and Avenida de Madrid, where there will be seven stands, with a reception and visitor hall, parking area for test vehicles, access banner and control of capacity, following at all times the rules and anti-COVID protocol.
The inauguration will take place tomorrow, Friday at 12 noon and the fair will remain open until 9 pm. On Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 the hours will be from 11:00 to 14:30 and from 17:00 to 21:00.
