Benidorm awards management of Puerto Rico Avenue parking lot

Benidorm City Council has awarded the contract for the control, maintenance, and management of the public parking lot on Avenida Puerto Rico, following the operating model used at the L'Aigüera parking lot. The Councillor for Mobility, Francis Muñoz, stated that "based on the contract, the parking lot's opening period will coincide with peak tourist periods, when parking needs increase: Easter and from July 1st until after the October bank holiday."
The contract will begin operating "as soon as possible," as the company must now acquire the necessary machinery and resources to provide the service, such as a remote access control and payment system, a state-of-the-art management system with a television circuit, and interior and exterior signage.
Once the contract is operational, the facilities will operate from 9:00 a.m. to midnight.
Muñoz clarified that "until the contract is effectively implemented, the parking lot will continue to operate free of charge as before." The 100 parking spaces located on the parking deck will also be available free of charge and operational throughout the year, as the recently awarded contract is limited to the 246 spaces inside the building, of which 211 are for cars (13 reserved for people with reduced mobility), 11 for motorcycles, and 24 for bicycles.
Only the successful tenderer, formed by New Capital 2000 SL and Promed Servicios e Infraestructuras SLU, submitted a bid for €65,286.27, an amount that will be prorated throughout effective service provision. The contract will be valid until mid-October 2026.
