‘Any d'Esperança’ is the motto of the Moorish march that won the XX Festera Music Composition Contest ‘Villa de Benidorm’. This has been decided unanimously by the technical jury of the contest, chaired by the Councilor for Culture, Jaime Jesús Pérez, who explained that “the name of the author and the definitive title of the work, which according to the bases is reserved by the City Council, they will be released on September 25, during the concert of the contest where Benidorm Musical Union will premiere the piece ”.
The councilor has pointed out that "this twentieth edition is tremendously special both for the musical group of Benidorm and for the celebrant, since it pays tribute to Andrés Teuler Martínez, a member of the Musical Union and the Tagarine Muslim Filá who died last January and who was one of the promoters of this Composition Contest and teacher of several generations of musicians in our city and in Polop ”.
Pérez recalled that “a total of 23 compositions were presented at the contest called this year in the modality of late march, a record number of the contest, which have been evaluated by the technical jury, made up of professionals of recognized trajectory and well versed in music. festive ”.
Specifically, the director and composer Rafael Mullor Grau, author of such well-known pieces as ‘L’ambaixador cristià’ and ‘Alcoi, escata i destral’; Jaime Ripoll Martins, director of the Alteanense Philharmonic Society and the Camerata ‘Ars Cantica’ of Benidorm, who has signed more than 40 compositions including ‘Als moros vells’; the composer and orchestra director from Benidorm Juan Antonio Espinosa Zaragoza; and the local musician Javier Cidrón Ribes.
The mayor of Culture has stressed that the ‘Villa de Benidorm’ contest is “a consolidated activity in the field of composition and that after the stoppage forced last year by the pandemic, it returns with force this year”. Pérez has highlighted that “throughout his career, a large number of winning and finalist works have emerged from this contest that have joined the repertoires of bands from all over the country and that sound throughout the Spanish geography in concerts and parades ”.
The prize of Festera Music Composition Contest 'Villa de Benidorm 2021' is endowed with 2,000 euros and a trophy, which will be received by the author of the winning piece during the concert on September 25 at Julio Iglesias auditorium in Parque de l ' Aigüera, at 9:00 p.m.
