Benidorm City Council is going to include in the first phase of the Energy Efficiency project the renovation of a large part of the lighting in Els Tolls neighborhood to improve lighting and its performance. This was announced by the councilors for Citizen Participation and Works, Ana Pellicer and José Ramón González de Zárate, during a visit to the neighborhood as part of the ‘On the street’ campaign.
During the visit they were accompanied by the vice presidents of the Neighborhood Council, Teresa Garrido and Manuel Sánchez Notario; residents of the Els Tolls area, and municipal technicians in charge of the project.
A project that is financed by European funds through IDAE (Institute for Diversification and Energy Saving), which has already begun to be carried out in El Calvari neighbourhood, which will reach all the city's neighborhoods and with which energy savings of up to 79% will be achieved.
During the visit, González de Zárate explained how the new lighting will be in the area, which will have remote-managed lights to change the intensity and power of the lights. The two councilors sought input from residents on "the areas that need more lighting."
The Councilor for Works also specified that "all the wiring will be new", in addition to showing his "absolute" willingness for neighbors to express all their demands in terms of lighting "because they are the ones who know the place best."
The 4-meter-high street lamps will be equipped with ‘led’ technology with which more light will be achieved ”.
Pellicer has indicated that in the coming weeks the campaign ‘At the foot of the street’ will continue to be developed also in the afternoons to continue explaining ‘in situ’ to the neighbors the interventions that are going to be carried out within the project in the different neighborhoods.
