Benidorm improves the point of accessible beaches of Elche Park

29 March 2017
Benidorm mejora el punto de playas accesibles del Parque Elche

The investment reaches 28,000 euros and it has been acted in the platform and in the zone of shadow

Benidorm City Hall, through the concessionaire of the beaches, has invested about 28,000 euros in improving the point of accessible beaches in Elche Park. This investment has made possible to act on both the platform and the shadow area of this accessible point, which annually more than 8,300 users visit it.

The mayor, Toni Pérez, and the councilor for Beaches, Lorenzo Martínez, have moved to this point of accessible beaches to see the result of this action, in which the wooden floorboard has been replaced with a concrete that imitates wood and that meets all the requirements of universal accessibility.

The mayor said that "this material is more resistant and requires less maintenance, so its useful life is much greater than that of wood." In addition, with the placement of concrete, which has meant an investment of 16,879.50 euros, "we avoid the usual problems of splintering presented by the wooden boards of the old platform."

As regards the shade area, the awnings have been replaced. Thus, those which had hitherto, which had deteriorated state, have been removed, and sliding type ones have been installed on four new structures in reinforced tube.

Martínez stressed that "with this action we have the beaches accessible points in perfect condition for the imminent start of the first holiday period of the year, Easter."

Benidorm has three accessible beaches accessible eleven months a year in Levante, at the crossing of the avenues Europa and Alcoy-; In the Park of Elche; and in La Cala, in front of Delfín Hotel. In 2016 these three points served a total of 19,584 users.
