The Three Wise Men Parade on January 5th will start from Elche Park and end at Julio Iglesias Auditorium, although an alternative route is being considered in case of rain
Benidorm finalizes preparations for the arrival of the Three Wise Men with a parade featuring the participation of around a thousand people
With just three days to go before the arrival of the Three Wise Men in Benidorm, the city is finalising preparations to welcome them on the afternoon of January 5th. This was announced today by the mayor, Toni Pérez, who, along with the Councillor for Fiestas, Mariló Cebreros, shared the main details of the "spectacular and massive parade" that will bring the Three Wise Men and in which around a thousand people will participate.
The Fiestas Department is working closely with the emissaries of Their Majesties on the parade's organisation, and the mayor revealed their names today. King Melchior has entrusted the important task of organising the gift distribution to Juan Antonio González Magaña, parish priest of the Church of Sant Jaume and Santa Ana.
Meanwhile, King Gaspar has placed his trust in Juan Antonio Espinosa Zaragoza, a musician and recipient of the 2024 "Ciutat de Benidorm" Cultural Distinction. Finally, King Balthazar has appointed Ramón Garrigós Martínez, coach of the Nautical Club and the Anémona rowing team, as his right-hand man.
As Toni Pérez pointed out, the three emissaries of the Three Kings "have experience in project and team management and great organisational skills"; experience that is "essential to face the immense responsibility ahead of them, not only in supervising the parade, but also in organizing and coordinating the distribution of toys and gifts."
The mayor has announced that, as is tradition, the Three Kings will arrive in Benidorm following the path marked by the ‘Star of Christmas,’ embodied this year by Professor María José Lozano Pérez, recipient of the 2025 ‘City of Benidorm’ Cultural Distinction. She will be responsible for guiding Their Majesties and their entire entourage to Benidorm and for opening the parade, which combines “tradition and modernity.”
Thus, the parade on January 5th will be divided into two parts: a first, more playful section, featuring characters from children’s films and television series; And a second, more traditional one, recreates the story of the Three Wise Men, accompanied by the symphonic suite "The Three Wise Men," composed by Francisco José Rovira Peretó from Benidorm. The suite is structured in six parts, just like the narrative: "The Story of the Three Wise Men," namely "The Star and the Nativity," "Herod," "The Shepherds," "The Arab Souk," "The Royal Entourage," and finally, "The Three Wise Men."
During the parade, the suite will be performed by four local musical groups: Unión Musical, Societat Musical l’Illa, Societat Musical La Nova, and Bandeta Tropical. They will be joined by the Colla de Xirimiters de la Marina, five dance troupes, and a dozen floats.
According to the mayor, the Three Wise Men Parade will depart at 6:00 PM from Elche Park and will proceed along Los Almendros Avenue, Marte Street, Venus Street, Ruzafa Street, Herrerías Street, SSMM Reyes de España Square, and l’Aigüera Park, finally reaching Julio Iglesias Auditorium. There, a multimedia show and a fireworks display are planned, and Their Majesties will distribute gifts to the children.
Given the possibility of rain on January 5th, Toni Pérez assured everyone that “Benidorm will ensure that the parade, whatever the weather, is as brilliant and wonderful for everyone as it has been in recent years.” The City Council is already working on an alternative plan, which will be communicated to the public through official channels if necessary. In any case, he has sent a message of reassurance because “Melchior, Gaspar, and Balthazar have confirmed to us that they will definitely be in Benidorm on the afternoon of January 5th.”
Their Majesties, through their emissaries, have also conveyed their “excitement” at being able to be in Benidorm and spread “joy” and “gifts,” with the promise that “no child will be left without toys.”
Royal Postman
And while Their Majesties continue their journey to Benidorm, the Royal Postman arrives in the city today to collect the letters with the wishes and requests of the children. Specifically, the Royal Postman will be in Plaza de la Navidad this Friday, January 2nd, starting at 6:00 PM. The visit will be repeated on Saturday and Sunday, starting at 5:00 PM and 6:00 PM, respectively.
