Women's Council for Equality
Benidorm City Council, in recent years, has been developing policies aimed at effective equality between women and men, among which the incorporation of gender transversality in the different areas of municipal intervention and the Municipal Equality Plan, approved by Plenary, stands out. on July 28, 2008.
The creation of the Women's Council for Equality is an objective of the Municipal Equality Plan that represents a boost for local equal opportunity policies as a result of the collaboration between Benidorm City Council and social agents.
The Women's Council for Equality is a participation body, attached to the Department of Equality, which has a consultative and advisory nature, not binding, to the different bodies of the City Council on gender equality.
The purposes of the Women's Council for Equality are:
a) Promote gender equality in all municipal areas and combat any discrimination based on sex.
b) Promote the participation of women in the development of municipal policies of equal opportunities between women and men.
c) Be a space for meetings and dialogue between the local administration and citizens regarding the promotion of women.
d) Promote collaboration and cooperation between different administrations, associations and entities.
