Regional Council for Equality
For more than 20 years, the municipalities of the Marina Baixa have held a Women's Meeting on the occasion of International Women's Day, which serves to reflect on the current situation of women and a commitment to continue working on equal opportunities between women and men.
To organize these meetings, numerous coordination meetings have been held between the technical and political staff of the participating municipalities and as a consequence some joint actions have emerged, such as the awareness campaigns “At home and work, let's share” in 2010 and “ No to Gender Violence” in 2016.
From this collaboration and exchange of good practices in gender matters between the local governments of the region, the Regional Council for Equality of the Marina Baixa -CCIMB- was born, to join forces to promote equality policies that favour the development of social, economic, labour and cultural of the region, by carrying out prevention, awareness and intervention actions and the promotion of women's associations.
