The works of execution of the 'Levante Cycling Ring' project are now on Avenida Europa, one of the main access roads to Benidorm, which tomorrow, May 12, will begin to be resurfaced at night from Comunidad Valenciana Avenue to Mediterráneo. . The councilman of Works, José Ramón González de Zárate, has reported that "as we did on Beniardá Avenue with very good results, we will install a noise reducing asphalt that absorbs noise. In this way, we mitigate the traffic noise and reduce the noise pollution that usually occurs in the avenue of Europe. " "The result - he has indicated - is a safer avenue for drivers and pedestrians, and much more friendly for residents and traders".
As was also done on Beniardá Avenue, "the works will be carried out at night, starting at 10 pm, so as not to interfere with the traffic of the avenue". During the nine nights of the asphalting work, practically at all times there will be at least one lane of traffic in each direction, while the rest of the day will be all.
Once the resurfacing is finished, the road markings will be painted, "at which time the bike lane will be included, which, as in the rest of the city's main avenues, will run through the center of the road, and will link to the the bike lane sections of Comunidad Valenciana and Alfonso Puchades ".
De Zárate has asked for "apologies" to the public for "the inconvenience inherent in any work" and has asked for "collaboration and precaution for the duration of the work."
' Levante Cylist Ring and its connection branches' project is valued at 984,128.36 euros and financed by the Benidorm City Council and the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) within the framework of the Operational Program the Valencian Community for the period 2014-2020. With these new 11 kilometers, Benidorm will reach 80 kilometers of bicycle and cycle lanes.
The 'Cyclist Ring' will run through the avenues Europa, Ametlla del Mar, Severo Ochoa, Estocolmo, Monte Carlo, Almirall Bernat de Sarriá and Comunidad Valenciana, while the connecting branches will be the streets: Ibiza, Rumanía, Marsella and Nápoles, in the that the lane model will be implemented.
