11 May 2019
Benidorm se sumerge en el Medievo

Coinciding with the commemoration of the 694th anniversary of the founding of Benidorm, the city has been submerged this weekend in medieval times. From yesterday and until tomorrow, Sunday, Park of Elche and the street of the Mayor Jose Such welcomed the Medieval Market organized by the Independent Association of Merchants (AICO) with the collaboration of the Department of Commerce and Festivities. A market that has about a hundred craft stalls and local products and in which every 20 minutes there are performances and entertainment.

This afternoon they have toured this 'Medieval Benidorm' the mayor, Toni Pérez; the councilman of Fiestas, Jesús Carrobles; members of the municipal corporation; the secretary of AICO, Juanjo Camarasa; the Queens of the Festes Majors Patronals, Marina Carrillo and Paula Mayor, with the ladies of their court of honor; and the president of the Comissió, Roberto Carretero.

In addition to craft stalls and local products, the Medieval Market has a restaurant and children's play area, and throughout the weekend will host various activities and animations every 20 minutes, music groups that will liven up the atmosphere, circus shows, acrobats and recreation companies.

Through this Medieval Market, which will be open until Sunday evening, Benidorm celebrates the 694th anniversary of the granting of the Poblament Letter by Almirall Bernat de Sarrià on May 8, 1325: For this commemoration, has scheduled a week of festive and cultural events that culminates tonight with the representation of the granting of the Charter of Poblament by the group of the same name and penyes de l'Associació de Penyes Verge del Sofratge.

The performance, which will be followed by the speech of the maintainer - the researcher and theater director José Vicente García Ramos -, will begin at 9:00 p.m. at the Plaça de Sant Jaume.
