The photographic exhibition opens this Saturday and brings together half a hundred protagonists "representing all the women of Benidorm"
Tribute to the woman of Benidorm, the new proposal for Historical Heritage in the Espais d'Art Urbà
The Department of Historical and Cultural Heritage inaugurates this Saturday, March 5, the exhibition 'Mujeres', a photographic show that will be exhibited in all the Espais d'Art Urbà of the city and that is "a tribute to the women of Benidorm; to the enterprising, brave, caring, pioneering woman; to the woman of Benidorm today”, as pointed out by the councillor of the department, Ana Pellicer.
The exhibition is made up "of the black and white portraits of 50 women who come to represent all of us" and who "have achieved relevance and recognition at the local level or beyond our city for their professional career or their altruistic work ”.
Among the protagonists of the exhibition "there are women from the hotel industry, from commerce, from science, from the civil service, from the arts and culture, from medicine, from social movements, from the Corps and Forces of Security, from the world of communication, sports, politics and a long etcetera", pointed out Pellicer, who underlined that "there are not all of them, but they are all of them".
The councillor for Historical and Cultural Heritage has detailed that "these 50 portraits are signed by the photographer Iván Carbonell from Alicante, who has devoted himself to this project from the beginning and who has been able to perfectly capture and transmit the meaning of this tribute".
Emerged within the initiative 'Benidorm Expone' and framed in the programming for International Women's Day, 'Mujeres' can be seen from Saturday at the Espais d'Art Urbà Els Tolls, El Carrasco, El Pont, El Campo and Ponent. The mayor has stressed that "the configuration of these outdoor exhibition spaces with backlit muppis means that the viewer can enjoy the show both during the day and at night, thus living a different experience of the same exhibition."
Pellicer has encouraged the public "to join us on the tour that, together with the protagonists, we will take this Saturday through the different Espais d'Art Urbà". The starting point will be l'Espai d'Art Urbà Els Tolls, at 10:00. Next, the Espai d'Art Urbà El Carrasco (10:30 a.m.) and El Pont (10:45 a.m.) will be visited. Later, at 12:30 p.m., it is planned to visit l’Espai d’Art Urbà El Campo, and finish the tour in Ponent (12:45 p.m., from the confluence of Jaime I and Armada Española avenues).
