The film ‘Snow in Benidorm’, directed by filmmaker Isabel Coixet and shot in the city, is released today in all cinemas in the country. The film has an international cast that includes Timothy Spall, Sarita Choudhury, Carmen Machi, Ana Torrent and Pedro Casablanc. The director herself has described ‘Nieva en Benidorm’ as “an unclassifiable thriller about late love affairs, meteorological phenomena and the poet and writer Sylvia Plath in Benidorm”; and it tells of the coexistence in the city of the English and Spanish communities, which seem to live in two parallel universes.
Produced by El Deseo de los hermanos Almodovar, the film finished shooting in the city just a week before the state of alarm came into effect, and the editing was carried out in the following months. The film was screened for the first time on October 4 during the inauguration of the Valladolid Film Festival.
In Benidorm, the film is screened in four cinemas: Colci and Colci Rincón Cinemas at 5.30pm, 6.00pm, 8.00pm and 8.30pm. In one of the cinemas of El Rincón, the film can be seen in its original version with subtitles.
‘Nieva en Benidorm’ is one of the various audiovisual filming that the city hosted between the end of 2019 and the first months of 2020; an activity managed by Benidorm Film Office
