Ten Benidorm companies will opt for the SICTED award for the first time

A total of ten tourist companies in Benidorm will opt this year to achieve the SICTED award (Integral System of Tourist Quality in Destinations), as it has been known today after the meeting of the Quality Table attended by the mayor Toni Pérez, the manager of Visit Benidorm, Leire Bilbao, the Tourism technician, Virginia Puchades, Eva Beltrán, from the Tourism Competitiveness Area of Valencian Community Tourism; Mayte García Córcoles, from HOSBEC; Juan Delgado, from Benidorm and Region Camping Association and Juan José Camarasa, representing AICO.

The SICTED is a project to improve the quality of tourist destinations promoted by the Secretary of State for Tourism, with the support of the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP) that works with tourist services of up to 36 different trades with the objective last to improve the experience and satisfaction of the tourist.

The award of "Tourism Quality Commitment" accredits compliance with the requirements established in the methodology and recognizes the effort and commitment to quality and continuous improvement of the member companies, while distinguishing the company from the competition.

Currently, Benidorm has 69 distinguished companies and 18 member companies. 10 member companies have presented themselves to the Quality Table, which will receive the distinction for the first time, and 66 companies will renew their distinction.

Regarding the distinguished companies, currently, of the 36 trades covered by the SICTED, 17 are represented in Benidorm, headed by several companies, hotels, and tourist apartments. This year two new trades have been incorporated, "golf courses and Pitch & Putt courses" and "museums and centers of tourist interest that can be visited" with a municipal museum.

The companies opting for this award for the first time are ABC Tour Guides (tour guide), Camping Benisol, Gestaltur (apartment and tourist housing rental company), Hotel Cuco, Hotel Dynastic, Hotel Gala Placidia, Hotel Meliá Villaitana, Meliá Villaitana Golf Club, and Boca del Calvari Museum. The Sicted Quality Committee will be held on June 15.

Benidorm joined the SICTED project in mid-2013, through the framework agreement signed between Visit Benidorm Foundation and the Secretary of State for Tourism in terms of quality. This national project has been very well received in Benidorm, reinforcing the position of the city as a quality tourist destination.

The SICTED makes it possible to establish a permanent management structure that ensures the increase in the competitiveness of tourist companies in the destination; it offers a homogeneous level of quality in all tourist services and seeks to increase the involvement and participation of businessmen in the tourist development of the destination.

Among the benefits that companies obtain, it is worth highlighting the improvement of internal management, especially that of processes related to customer satisfaction; increase in the qualification of the team, through a training plan; participation in the largest tourism quality project developed in Spain, together with more than 9,000 establishments; receive technical assistance that offers support for improvement; and opt for an award that accredits the level of quality obtained.
