The stretch of Mediterráneo Avenue between Europa Avenue and Atmella del Mar will debut asphalted this summer

The stretch of Mediterráneo avenue between Europe and Atmella del Mar will debut asphalted this summer. This Wednesday, June 21, the works of improvement of paving of the road begin, as informed the mayor, Toni Pérez, who this morning has visited the avenue along with the councilman of Works and Mobility, José Ramón González de Zárate; The deputy spokesman of the municipal group Ciudadanos (Cs), Juan Balastegui; Municipal technicians; and a representative of the company that will be in charge of carrying out the works, Mediterráneo de Obras y Asfaltos SL (MOA).
The Local Government Board approved last Friday the award of the contract for an amount close to 500,000 euros and with a measurement improvement of more than 50%. The contract also includes the asphalting of the slope of resurfacing of one of the main access roads to Benidorm, Villajoyosa avenue in La Cala.
The mayor explained that the project contemplates resurfacing and repainting all the firm of this section of avenue, of more than a kilometer in length, as well as "to introduce the bike lane in both directions as approved last week the Council of the Mobility".
According to the work schedule, the section will first be paved in the direction of the corner and then the reverse, always maintaining an open traffic lane to affect traffic as little as possible. In parallel, a brigade will be responsible for "a review of the pavement of the sidewalks, mainly in the most dangerous points," in which the firm will be replaced - with a concrete pavement - to avoid possible falls and make these more secure for pedestrian itineraries
The mayor said that this action is "the result of dialogue and consensus with the Cs group" that proposed this intervention "when preparing the budget", and recalled that it is "apart from the complete remodeling" of Mediterráneo avenue, which in a first phase will focus precisely on the other stretch of track, which runs from Plaza de la Hispanidad to Europa avenue.
Pérez has indicated that this asphalt in Villajoyosa must be finished "before July 15" as it is written in the contract, although we will work with the company so that the works are ready "the first week of July."
