The Local Association of AMPA's organizes another year the Summer School for children from 3 to 12 years

19 June 2017
La Agrupación Local de AMPA’s organiza un año más la Escuela de Verano para menores de 3 a 12 años

Social Welfare and Education offer bonuses up to 100% of the activity, including the dining room

The first turn starts this Wednesday at Aitana College

The Local Association of AMPA's, with the collaboration of the Councils of Education and Social Welfare, organizes once again the Summer School for children between 3 and 12 years, which will be developed in the public school Aitana in five different turns from 21 June to 1 September.

This morning the mayor and head of Education, Toni Pérez, and the AMPA president, Francisco Santamaría, have signed the agreement that marks the contribution of the City Hall to this activity, after the Local Government Board has approved to allocate 20,044.50 euros to finance the activities of the scholarship children, and another 15,000 to partially cover the participation of other users.

The mayor explained that the first amount will be used to scholarship 100% of the attendance to the Summer School of up to about 30 students from families with severe material deprivation, for which the City Hall has asked to benefit from the grant of Conselleria de Igualdad and Políticas Inclusivas. With the remaining 15,000 euros will be paid up to half the cost of attendance of other participants in the Summer School.

In summer school, in addition to school support, they perform daily activities such as English, traditional and alternative sports, games, gymkanas, crafts, social skills workshops, body language, theater or cooking. There are also planned trips to Foietes pool, to the beach and excursions.

The Summer School will be held from 09.00 to 14.00 hours, although there is an optional morning classroom service from 08.00. Also optional is the dining service, from 2 pm to 3 pm. With regard to the shifts, the first one will start this Wednesday, June 21 and will continue until the 30th. In July, two shifts have been arranged: from 3 to 14 and from 17 to 28; And two in August: from 1 to 16 and from 17 to 1 September. The prices vary from 85 to 170 euros depending on whether the inscription is bi-weekly or monthly.

The mayor has indicated that "for the third year in a row" this Summer School is "absolutely inclusive and inclusive", since all minors come regardless of the economic situation of their families.

Parallel to the Summer School, and just like in 2016, the Department of Social Welfare has called a grant of up to 5,500 euros for the implementation of a classroom of special attention by a non-profit social entity. This class will be integrated in the AMPA's Summer School and will run from July 1 to August 31.

Last year, assistance to the Summer School of more than 80 students with socioeconomic needs was fully subsidized, and half of the expenditure was subsidized to around 45 children.

Annual agreement with AMPA

In addition to the collaboration for the development of the Summer School, the mayor and the president of the Local Association of AMPA's have also signed an agreement to carry out training actions throughout this year.
