The competition reaches its tenth edition next year, "consolidated as one of the major national events for the short film industry"
Registration is open for the Skyline Benidorm Film Festival, which will take place from April 18 to 25
Skyline Benidorm Film Festival has already begun the journey toward its tenth anniversary with the opening of short film submissions for its next edition, which will be held from April 18 to 25, 2026. It will be a very special edition, marked by a look back over these ten years and the promotion of new proposals that reinforce the festival's identity and its commitment to short-format cinema. A commitment that, as highlighted by the Councillor for Culture, Jaime Jesús Pérez, "makes the Skyline Benidorm Film Festival reach this tenth edition fully consolidated and a benchmark and one of the major national events for the short film industry."
Thus, those interested in participating in the next edition can submit their works from today, October 13, until December 20, through the Festhome, Movibeta, or FilmFreeway platforms.
Recognised by the Film Academy as a qualifying festival for the Goya Awards, the Skyline Benidorm Film Festival has established itself as an essential event on the national and international film scene. Its objective is to promote, disseminate, and professionalise short-form films, combining the spirit of auteur cinema with a firm commitment to equality, sustainability, and the creation of new audiences.
“Celebrating ten years fills us with excitement, but also with responsibility,” says Beatriz Hernández, festival director, who also emphasised that “this edition will be a celebration of everything we have built together with filmmakers, institutions, and the public.
We want to look back with pride, but above all, look forward, reinforcing our commitment to cinema and to those who enjoy it.”
In this commemorative edition, the festival will celebrate a decade of cinema, talent, and short film gatherings, reaffirming its mission as a bridge between creators, industry, and the public. The official sections will include the National (Goya-qualified), International, Ibero-American, and Young Filmmakers categories, with a total of more than a dozen awards recognising both artistic and technical excellence.
Among the most notable accolades are the awards for Best National Short Film in Fiction, Documentary, and Animation, each worth €1,000; and the DAMA Award for Best Screenplay (€1,500), among others. In addition, the festival offers a selection fee of 200 euros for all short films competing in the National Official Section.
“We want Skyline to continue to be a friendly, inspiring, and professional space, where audiences of all ages can discover diverse perspectives and connect with cinema,” added Hernández. “Benidorm has become a meeting point for short films, and that's thanks to the collective energy that has accompanied the festival over the years.”
The Skyline Benidorm Film Festival maintains its essence as a privileged showcase for both new creators and established directors. Over eight days, it will host screenings, discussions, professional meetings, and the PRISMA industry conference, a space for dialogue between filmmakers, production companies, and platforms.
