The mayor of Benidorm values the role of the hotel industry at the end of the General Assembly of Abreca-Cobreca

Pérez is committed to the "unity" of the economic sectors and the administration to emerge "stronger" from the crisis caused by the pandemic

The mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, today highlighted the “fundamental” role that the hospitality sector plays in the local economic fabric and stressed that the experience of the pandemic has left “a very clear message. Together we are stronger." A message that Pérez has specified is that "united there is no challenge that we cannot overcome".
The mayor has launched these messages during his speech at the end of the General Assembly of Abreca-Cobreca, which took place today at Benidorm Tourism Development Center (CDT), in which the association has approved its new statutes and has presented its projects for this year.
Toni Pérez has also highlighted the importance of "public-private" collaboration and has insisted that the pandemic "has left a residue that must be revitalizing". He has recognized that the hotel industry has gone through very difficult times and has highlighted the mission of the City Council, "which response, opens its doors, goes as far as it has to go and helps". In this sense, he has recalled the campaigns #BenidormTeEspera, #LuceBenidorm or # BenidormTeDaMás.
The mayor has also expressed that the City Council "will continue in its line of active listening, attending and applying what they ask of us", while he has opted to "continue working from loyalty with higher administrations".
He has also congratulated Abreca-Cobreca "for the transition they have made" that makes them "increasingly powerful and with greater capacity" and has urged "not to be afraid to use the word 'lobby' because that means having influence".
For his part, the president of Abreca, Javier del Castillo, has stressed "the strategic commitment to our future and that of Benidorm" that the association has begun. Del Castillo has thanked the support received from the City Council and the Generalitat, "which have helped us a lot", although he has detailed that in these two years of the pandemic "we have invoiced less than in a normal year". The president of the hoteliers has also marked the way forward, he has said "associating Benidorm with quality and innovation".
Pablo González, president of Cobreca, has delved into the need to "work every day to be stronger" and has considered that "the regional and provincial financing should be a little higher".
Finally, the new manager of the association, Diego Salinas, has explained the new project, summarized in a letter of services presented in the style of a letter or menu of a restaurant. In this letter, they show the 22 services they offer to their associates and new aspects that will be worked on, such as a subsidy manager, a commitment to quality and food safety, a job pool of their own and a commitment to new technologies.
In terms of innovation, Salinas has advanced the implementation of a Purchasing Center, its employment portal www.benijob.es, an accommodation offer for professionals in the summer season and the distribution of goods at night to decongest traffic.
Abreca has set itself the goal of reaching 500 associates before the end of the year and multiplying the volume of business by three, as indicated by its president, Javier del Castillo.
