The work, which will be finished in March, has been visited today by the 'A pie de calle' campaign, prior to the Neighborhood Council in which the new vice presidents have been chosen

Benidorm City Council is executing the works for the creation of a large bus stop on Primavera street in order to end the traffic jams that regularly occur on Emilio Ortuño street due to urban and school transport.

The new stop, located in the lower part of Primavera street, will entail the suppression of the current stop on Emilio Ortuño street. In this way, the motorcycle parking that existed in that section of Primavera is moved to Emilio Ortuño.

The works have been visited today as part of the 'A pie de calle' campaign, with the councilors for Citizen Participation, Ana Pellicer, and Urban Scene and Mobility, José Ramón González de Zárate, who have been accompanied by numerous members of the Neighborhood Council and the vice-presidents of this body, Teresa Garrido and Manuel Sánchez Notario, who have just said goodbye to their position today.

The action "is agreed with the Mobility Council and with the residents of the neighborhood" indicated González de Zárate, who recalled that traffic delays are frequent due to discretionary and school transport due to the existence in the vicinity of nine hotels and three or four tourist apartment buildings and school bus stops. "It is a very large movement of buses and with this work, we intend to end these problems by moving the bus stop," said the councillor.

The Councilor for Mobility specified that the new stop "will be completely accessible, approved, with a canopy and will have a pedestrian walkway behind for the transit of residents and advanced that the work "will be completed in the month of March."

For her part, Ana Pellicer highlighted the fact that today was the last day of 'A pie de calle' campaign with the current vice presidents, who have said goodbye from their position in a Neighborhood Council after the end of the term. The Councilor for Citizenship Participation highlighted "the important work of the advisers in this campaign, as we can see in the good results in this case, and in many others that we have visited, it is an action that the neighbors demanded of us ”.

On the other hand, the Neighborhood Council has elected today the new first and second vice presidents in a session that has been held in the Plenary Hall of the Town Hall. After the vote, the new first vice president will be Antonio Zamora Cuenca and the second vice president will be Francisco Martínez Ortuño.

The technical commissions of the Neighborhood Council have also been configured at the meeting, with the councilors that are part of each of them. In total there are five commissions: Tourism, Beaches and Citizen Security; Equality, Social Welfare, Health and Senior Citizens; Urbanism, Urban Scene and Mobility; Education, Culture, Sports and Youth and, finally, Environment and Street cleaning.

After the election, the mayor wanted to thank the outgoing vice presidents for "their work, contributions, presence on the street and on-site" and described their performance as "admirable". He also asked them to "continue representing their association and making this Neighborhood Council great because building a city is everyone's business."

Similarly, Ana Pellicer congratulated the new vice-presidents, to whom she wished "success and work in these next four years". The councilor also thanked them for their work and wished "that the new ones take their position with the same enthusiasm as their predecessors".
