Reserved for registered residents, it is delivered with a 10-euro charge for use on the urban bus
Benidorm opens the application for the 'Citizen Card' to all ages
Its future use for the l'Aigüera car park is assessed
Now more than 4,600 people already have it
Benidorm City Council opens next Monday, January 30, a new phase of request and delivery of the 'Citizen Card', which can currently be used on the urban bus and to which new uses and municipal services will be linked in the future. As reported by the mayor, Toni Pérez, "as of next week the application for the 'Citizen Card' will be open to the registered population of all ages."
The mayor recalled that "when we presented this card-purse, nominative, we already advanced that it was intended for the entire registered population over 3 years of age" and that "access to it would be done gradually by age ranges". Thus, an initial appeal was made to users of the urban bus Gold Bonus and the rest of the population over 65 years of age, and later it was made available to people over 50 years of age. "Now in this new phase we open this process to the entire population aged 3 and over, thus completing its dissemination among all potential beneficiaries", he specified.
People interested in obtaining their 'Citizen Card' must go to the General Registry of the City Council -located on the ground floor- with a photograph and ID and they will only have to fill out a form. Two weeks later they will be notified to collect their card purse, which is delivered with an initial charge of 10 euros that can be consumed on the urban bus. Once that amount is exhausted, recharge and continue using this transport under advantageous conditions, with discounts ranging between 10% and 66% depending on the type of user: General, School, Social, Youth, or Gold.
Toni Pérez explained that the creation of this card "has a double objective through technology: to encourage and promote the use of public transport by offering advantageous conditions and to modernize the services provided to the registered population."
In this regard, he has transferred that "among the municipal services that are being considered to include in the future linked to the 'Citizen Card' is the public car park of l'Aigüera, which shortly will be managed directly by the City Council".
In total, "to date, 4,656 cards have already been delivered and there are another 130 in process, to which are added those delivered through Avanza to students using the Municipal School Voucher."
The issuance of the card is free; while the renewal of the same in case of loss, deterioration, or theft will cost 4 euros.
