The Local Police rescues a person lost in Serra Gelada with the help of a drone
Members of the Local Police of Benidorm rescued yesterday a person who had been lost in the Natural Park of the Serra Gelada. The use of the drone of the Beach Unit of the Local Police facilitated the location and rescue of the missing person, a 71-year-old man living in Benidorm.
At about 1:00 pm, a warning was received from 112, warning that a person had gone astray in the area of influence of the Natural Park. It was the individual himself who contacted emergency services when he was "very exhausted and disoriented". Up to the place the patrol of the Rural Section of the Local Police moved that, following the references given by the individual by telephone, began the search for the upper area of Ciudad Patricia. Five more agents were added to the location tasks, among them the Beaches Unit with the drone.
After a short flight of the drone, the man was located in a rocky cut next to the upper part of the ravine that starts from Aqualandia. Once the missing person was located, the Local Police officers went on foot to the place following the instructions received by the drone. When he arrived at the man, he was very tired.
On the last leg of the way back, the man had to be attended by Red Cross staff, who provided him with hydration and glucose. Later, he was transferred to the health center of Rincón de Loix.
