L'Hort de Colón will host six performances of 'microteatro' for the first time in Benidorm

04 May 2018
L’Hort de Colón acogerá seis representaciones de ‘microteatro’ por primera vez en Benidorm

The Councilor for Culture, Ana Pellicer, has presented this morning at l'Hort de Colón the first Festival of 'Microteatro' to be held in this historic building on May 25 and 26. The 'microteatro' consists in the interpretation of theatrical works, of a time not exceeding fifteen minutes, in a small room, with a small audience that usually ends up integrating into the work. In this first edition, you can see six pieces of theater.

"This modality - said Pellicer - has become fashionable in Madrid and other cities and Benidorm could not be less. We have to bet on the theater and what better way to do it with this special format and in l'Hort de Colón, "an emblematic place and" the ideal location to perform these theatrical performances ". Ana Pellicer stressed that the festival will be "micro" threefold: "Micro for the space that will be dedicated to each of the works" (a different instance of the house). "Micro for the time, because they will be scarce 15 minutes". And finally, "micro for the capacity, which will be a maximum of 15 people.

Ana Pellicer was accompanied in the presentation by Miguel Ángel Fernández, from Mascarat Producciones and theater director Manuel Troncoso. Fernández recalled that this interpretive modality emerged about seven years ago from a group of actors in Madrid and among its advantages  stressed that it is the public "who chooses the number of functions that you want to see" and for this has "two days with six passes each. " Fernández said that the price for each session will be 5 euros that can be purchased in advance at the kiosk of La Hispanidad square. A modality of theater that allows spectators "to decide what they wants to see and how much they wants to spend", he underlined.

For this first l'Hort de Colón de 'Microteatro' Festival, works already premiered in Madrid have been selected with "very good acceptance by the public", Fernandez pointed out. It is expected that 700 or 800 views can be achieved. In this regard, Ana Pellicer has announced that "as a curiosity" is that one of them, 'The Impostor', directed by Manuel Troncoso will be "interpreted by professionals from our city and for all audiences." One more incentive to enjoy the first l'Hort de Colón de 'Microteatro' Festival.
