The City Hall begins the installation of the new dehumidifier of the Palau d'Esports

The machinery will be in service in the second half of May

Benidorm City Hall has started this morning the installation of the new dehumidifier that will serve the pool of  Palau d'Esports l'Illa. The councilor for Sports, Ana Pellicer, explained that this machine is responsible for regulating and maintaining the humidity levels that sets the standard for heated pools.

Pellicer recalled that the current dehumidifier "did not work correctly from the previous stage of management when one of the turbines failed, as the technicians warned in the numerous reports that were produced in connection with the termination of the contract with the company that managed the facilities". In fact, "the dehumidifier had to have been acquired by the previous contractor", and not its replacement "was one of the reasons why the company had to leave the premises before the end of the contract."

The City Council has invested about 60,000 euros in the acquisition of this dehumidifier, which has had to be manufactured abroad 'ex profeso' for the Palau since "the measures were not standard." "Due to the difficulty of manufacturing this type of machinery," he added, "it was expected to arrive in mid-May, but it has been advanced and we can give the good news that it will soon be in service."

The councillor recalled that in the interdepartmental meetings held after the resolution of the management contract of the pool and gymnasium of the Palau, it became clear that the acquisition of a new dehumidifier was a priority, and "from the Engineering department expedited all Procedures "so that the machinery could be bought and installed as soon as possible.

Today the existing dehumidifier is being retired to later place the new one, which will begin to operate in the second fortnight of May.
