All seats and backs will be upholstered and placed in one month approximately
The Department of Urban Scene is repairing the seats of the Assembly Hall of Benidorm City Council, many of which were deteriorated by the use. Staff of the Municipal Technical Services is in charge of placing these seats that have been previously upholstered.
The Urban Escena councilor, José Ramón González de Zárate, explained that "the repair of the seats is being done progressively so as not to disturb the activity of the Hall and that can continue to be used." Thus, the seats and backs of the rear rows have been removed for upholstering, which once repaired are being replaced in the first rows of seats.
The City Council has invested 4,235 euros in the wholesale purchase of the fabrics, while the work of retapizado have been contracted for 5,566 euros. De Zárate clarified that "initially our idea was that the Technical Services themselves will be in charge of retapizar the seats and backups, something that has not been possible due to the medical discharge of the municipal worker specialized in this task."
The councillor said that "the intention is that all the seats are repaired within a period of approximately one month," and recalled that with this action we met part of a plenary agreement, which included the improvement of the Hall. Thus, "we still have to improve the sound".
In this regard, he has detailed that "we have the budget of what it costs to incorporate a system of magnetic loops to improve the reception of sound by the hearing impaired, and also to replace the current sound system with a higher power and quality, "as reflected in a motion of Citizens (Cs) approved in full. Budgets that are being studied by technicians.
De Zárate has stressed that the expense of repairing seats and budgets for sound improvement and incorporation of systems for people with hearing impairment "are well below the 100,000 euros that the municipal socialist group proposed to commit in the municipal budget to adapt the Hall ".
