The Chamber Orchestra of Unión Musical commemorates with a concert the granting of the Town Charter
The string group of Benidorm Unión Musical Chamber Orchestra offered a concert yesterday to commemorate the 698th anniversary of the granting of the Charter of Poblament by l'Almirall Bernat de Sarriá. A concert that is part of the program on the occasion of the anniversary of the founding of Benidorm was held in the assembly hall of the Town Hall.
The concert was attended by, among others, the Councilors for Festivals and Culture, Jesús Carrobles and Jaime Jesús Pérez; members of the Corporation; the presidents of the Comissió de Festes Majors Patronals and of the Association of Penyes, Vicente Solaz, and Ramón Cano; and the president of the Grup Carta de Poblament, Mª Luz Navarro.
Under the direction of Rafa Gómez, the Chamber Orchestra performed a program made up of six pieces: 'Venezia' by Peter Martin, 'Concerto Grosso nº8' by Arcangelo Corelli, 'Canon' by Johann Pachebel, 'Danzas Alemanas' by Wolfang Amadeus Mozart , 'Romanian Folk Dances' by Béla Bartók and 'Palladio' by Karl Jenkins. Carlos Gardel's goal 'Por una cabeza' also sounded in an encore.
The commemorative acts of the foundation of Benidorm have their next one on Saturday, the 6th, at 9:00 p.m. in Plaça de Sant Jaume with the representation of the granting of the Charter of Poblament, on a text by Pasqual Almiñana and interpreted by members of the Grup Carta de Poblament and supporters of the 'Verge del Sofratge' Penyes Association. The act will have as its maintainer the journalist Sergi Castillo.
Previously, tomorrow afternoon the medieval market, located in Parque de Elche, officially opens; while on Monday, May 8 at noon, an institutional plenary session will be held.
