The works, which will begin in the next few days, will last for two weeks and will leave the neighborhood "fully accessible"
Benidorm improves accessibility in El Campo neighborhood with the implementation of the single platform and lugs on the corners
Benidorm City Council will take a new step in its bid to achieve total accessibility for the municipality with a new action, which in this case will take place in the El Campo neighborhood. For this reason, the 'A pie de Calle' campaign moved to Pescadores Street, where a large part of the work will take place.
The councilor for Urban Scene, José Ramón González de Zárate, and the councilor for Citizen Participation, Ana Pellicer visited the neighborhood accompanied by the vice-presidents of the Neighborhood Council, Antonio Zamora, and Francisco Martínez, and they explained the details of the jobs.
"The objective with this action is to make the neighborhood 100% accessible," said González de Zárate, for which the single platform will be implemented in all sections where there is no accessibility, and lugs will be created at street crossings so that they will be at the same height as the road to improve the vision and safety of pedestrians.
The Councilor for Urban Scene justified this intervention because "in this neighborhood, a good part of the population are older people and it must be provided with the greatest possible accessibility and giving priority to pedestrians." Thus, the single platform will be implemented in a section of Pescadores Street up to Costera del Campo and on Alcalde Agustín Navarro Street the same will be done on the sidewalk that connects with El Vent Street "so that there will be no corner left that does not be accessible.
Where there is a difficulty due to the narrowness of the sidewalk, there will be a single platform”.
Work will begin next week and will last for about two weeks. They are part of an accessibility and mobility improvement plan that "will cover many neighborhoods and that will be announced in a short time," the mayor specified.
González de Zárate also recalled some improvements made by the City Council in this neighborhood in recent years, among which he has cited the new lighting with 'led' technology, new furniture, the creation of the Espai d'Art Urbá El Campo or the sidewalks on Agustín Navarro street. "With what we are going to do now, the neighborhood will be completely renovated," he stated.
The councilor, finally, valued the campaign 'A pie de Calle that has been carried out every Thursday for four years "and that has allowed us to know the real needs and demands of the neighbors to be able to give them a solution ”. Next week 'A pie de Calle will visit the l'Horta area to see the actions carried out and learn about neighborhood demands.
