Toni Pérez: “with the metaverse the desire to live the tourist destination and enjoy its attractions is generated”

Benidorm Tourism Forum tomorrow analyzes the metaverse as an opportunity for the sector

26 October 2022
Foro Turismo. Metaverso

Tomorrow the twenty-first edition of the Tourism Forum focused on the analysis and projection of the metaverse "as a future of innovation, opportunity and possibilities for the tourism sector" will be held in the Assembly Hall of Benidorm City Council, announced the mayor of Benidorm, Tony Perez.

In line with the permanent innovation of the Benidorm product brand, from the Benidorm City Council and hand in hand with the co-organizers of the forum - the Chair of Tourism Studies "Pedro Zaragoza Orts" of the University of Alicante, the Costa Blanca Board of Trustees of Alicante Provincial Council, Turisme de la Generalitat Valenciana, Fundación Turismo de Benidorm, and HOSBEC- has proposed to focus this edition on the metaverse, "innovating, getting ahead of time and setting trends", Pérez pointed out.

The metaverse as an opportunity, the organization of the journey, and the journey through the metaverse are the three pillars on which this twenty-first edition of the FIT Benidorm is based.

"Benidorm is already working on the metaverse, through BenidormLand and this academic event we are going to delve into the possibilities", recalled the mayor, for whom the jump from science fiction to social science has been "a matter of only two decades, if Well, interaction with people has been a reality since 2017.”

Pérez described the implementation process of the metaverse as "totally immersive in destinations" and welcomed "his arrival in the world of tourism and travel."

Recalling that tourism "is mobility and relationship between people, with the metaverse we project ourselves in these areas and it is possible to offer a reality very close to the reality of the territory, its spaces, facilities, and characters".

For this reason, the mayor of Benidorm pointed out, "the interest of this forum lies in the fact that to the extent that knowledge of the destination advances through the metaverse, the desire to live the destination increases." For Toni Pérez, tomorrow's appointment at Benidorm Tourism Forum is "an innovative step forward for Benidorm in generating the desire to live the Benidorm destination in all its intensity and enjoy its attractions, which will benefit the destination city and all its economic actors."

For the development of this forum, the Chair of Tourism Studies 'Pedro Zaragoza Orts' of the University of Alicante, has had speakers of the level of Natalia Bayona, director of Innovation, Education and Investment of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) and Yaiza Rubio, from Telefonica's Metaverse Officer, along with developers and experts such as Alberto Lozano Porral (SIX 3d), Miguel Jaureguizar Francés (Renta 4 Banco), Héctor Paz (Imascono), Loreto Pérez (Spazious), Cristina Hernández ( Hotelverse) and Brian Vertone (Virtual Walcon).

The panels will be moderated by Jimmy Pons, from RoundCubers; Nuria Montes, General Secretary of the Hotel and Tourism Business Association of the Valencian Community, Hosbec and Leire Bilbao, Managing Director of Visit Benidorm.

The inauguration of the XXI Benidorm Tourism Forum will take place at 9:15 in the morning and the closure, scheduled for 2:00 p.m., will be attended by the regional secretary of Tourism Francesc Colomer, together with the mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez.
