Both measures improve the image of the city
Benidorm reinforces street flushing and extends the ‘removable’ containers to Ramos Carratalá street
Benidorm City Council has further strengthened the street flushing device and has extended the pilot project of 'removable' containers at the junction of Antonio Ramos Carratalá and Mercado streets, according to the councillor of Road Cleaning today, José Ramón González de Zárate. With both measures "the image of the city is improved" at a time of great influx of visitors.
As De Zárate has detailed, the usual cleaning device goes from three to five flushing machines and from two to three vats, while also "reinforcing the staff." Thus, to the three washing machines that work regularly in the morning, “there is an extra one in the same strip and a fifth in the afternoon, and a scrubber also in the morning shift; while to the two tanks that operate at night, a third is added in the morning.
The mayor explained that “the lack of rain and the significant influx of people in the city make this reinforcement necessary to maintain the cleanliness and image of the city and to eliminate the stains that are generated, especially in the areas of containers and litter bins".
De Zárate has pointed out that "although the busiest areas are washed and cleaned daily, such as the promenades and Elche Park, it is not possible to reach all parts of the city." For this reason, he has made a "call" to the public to inform the Department of Street Cleaning the areas in which it is necessary to act and "we will try to do so as soon as possible."
On the other hand, he has reported that "since Monday the pilot project for removable containers has been operating at a third point: between Antonio Ramos Carratalá and Mercado streets." De Zárate recalled that "at this point it was necessary to install containers on the surface since the underground containers have already exceeded their useful life of 10 or 12 years, so they are practically unused".
At Plaza de la Constitución and l'Hort de Colón, it had been detected that at this point the presence of garbage in the containers was constant throughout the day “ the schedules for taking out the garbage as it is established in the municipal ordinance are not met. ”. For this reason, the same system has been implemented by which the containers will be placed on the public road at 8:00 p.m. and will be removed before 8:00 a.m., thus ensuring compliance with the established schedules by the municipal ordinance.
De Zárate thanked "the collaboration of citizens" when it comes to "looking at the image of Benidorm and respecting the ordinance", and has ensured that the system of 'removable' containers are being well received.
